July 7th - Christ the Lord and Foundation

"Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things I say?"
Luke 6:46

Thoughts and Meditation

Jesus here is speaking to hypocrites that call Him “Lord and yet don’t walk in the path he has set them on. In the modern day, people almost refuse to call Jesus Lord. They will recognize Him as savior and God and “love” and a friend but refuse to recognize Him as master and judge and Lord.

Jesus has been exalted as Lord over us. When we build our life upon Him and His Lordship and the things He asks of us, our house will stand. Christ is the cornerstone that the Church is built on (Ephesians 2:20)! If we aren’t building ourselves on Him we will crumble to the ground.

When we claim the name of Christ and yet build on a foundation beside Him, walking in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. We must not only claim Christ but walk in Him, loving Him and keeping the things He has asked of us. We must be hearers and doers of the Word not only doers. We must hear and act upon the words that Christ has spoken to us. When we act on His words and truly put what He has asked above what we seek, We can call Him Lord without hypocrisy.

Ask the Lord to help you walk in Him and be a doer of the Word. Praise Him for being a good Lord which Lords over us without blemish or spot. Let it be done, Amen.
